Youth Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative (YMPI)
High School Commitment Letter
Bacon Academy is committed to the success of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board's (FWIB)
Youth Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative (YP). With this commitment, we are dedicated to the
following:
e Embed the 150-hour curriculum provided to us by EWIB into our school academic
programming
e Market the program in the school and district. ‘Engage and select students who are
considering a career path in manufacturing. Cultivate industry partnerships in our area as
potential employment placements for YMPI graduates.
e Schedule students with EWIB to take the Manufacturing Skills Inventory. If the students do
not pass, we are committed to remediate the students during the school year so that they may
retake the assessment.
e Provide students with soft skills, such as resume writing, interviewing techniques/skills, and
communication skills.
e Complete the YMPI program by meeting each benchmark within the curriculum to prepare
students to pass the Hands-On Evaluation in May. We will refer students to the Evaluation
who aré’academically prepared and emotionally ready to enter the workforce.
e Send a representative to a monthly meeting at the EWIB to discuss the progress of the YMPI in
our school. We are willing to send instructors to Professional Development opportunities
relevant to delivering the YMPI program effectively (as available).
e Work with roving EWIB personnel who will support the program delivery.
e If weare asked by the media to comment on the YMPI, we will mention EWIB as our partner
with the program.
We understand that if Bacon Academy fails to meet these commitments, our school may be removed
as a partner of the YMPI program. We further understand that while our students will receive job
skills aligned to the manufacturing industry as well as pre-apprenticeship & potential college credits,
acateer cannot be guaranteed by EWIB as the hiring process is the discretion of the participating
employers.
We look forward to partnering with EWIB.
Sincerely,
LX
