_middle school RECESS

Dear Board of Education,

    We believe that middle schoolers should have recess. We were doing
opinion writing and we decided to do it on middle school recess. In these
opinion pieces we will tell you why we believe middle schoolers should
have recess.

 ​I believe that kids should have recess in middle school. Imagine having    a
long day of school with no recess. Here are some reasons why : kids get
bored and fidgety in class without recess, they also need exercise and
need fresh air.



      Bang! You throw down your books. You just got out of math class
where you listened to your teacher talk about a long boring way to do math.
Why can't you just do it the quick way?A kid next to you is making his
pencil hit the desk.You sigh and frustration and long to have recess. Kids
get bored and fidgety class without recess.

       Some kids say that when you're in middle school you're too old for
recess. Other people say this is taking away from the learning time.They
are wrong because this is giving kids less time to exercise. You might say
well kids do sports too. No some kids do sports. Other kids like me don't
play sports and have homework.We don't get to play outside a lot and gym
is not enough exercise for us.This is why kids really need exercise.



       It's a winter day, your school has the heat going really high. You are
sitting doing a test. You have a headache and your classroom is really hot.
You are slightly panicked because you only have 10 minutes left of the test.
You're not even close to finishing! being panicked you scribble through.
Only need to find yourself with a 52%. If you had fresh air before, the test
that maybe you would have got a better grade. This is how I know kids
need fresh air.

     This is how I know that we should have recess in Middle
School.Think about this : How would you like it not about outside all day?
Please think about letting us have recess in Middle School.

      Do you think kids in middle school should have recess? Well, I
think they should. In these paragraphs I will tell you why I think middle
schoolers should have recess. Three reasons are too much stress can
fry your brain, if you are too fidgety you can't pay attention and, if you
don't exercise you could get unhealthy.

    I think kids in middle school should have recess because if you get
too stressed about the work that you are doing you may eventually fry
your brain. Also the stress that you get from your work could also lead
to problems with depression and memory loss. A researcher named
Jonathan Godbout and a few other researchers did a test on mice
training them to go through a maze, and eventually brought a more
aggressive mouse in and that caused stress. “The stressed mice
didn´t recall it (how to get through the maze),” says Jonathan
Godbout. This shows that stress can eventually impact your brain.
Imagine you are in middle school. You had two tests today and on top
of that all of your other classes. But you never had a chance to go
outside to get fresh air and run around. Then, after school when you
get home, you have to do all of your homework. But what if you don’t
finish your homework before it gets dark? All day you didn't get to go
outside and get some fresh air or just to play and have fun. This is
why middle schoolers should have recess.

    I think kids in middle school should have recess because if the
middle schoolers don't get outside to play and get fresh air you may
get unhealthy. I don’t think it's fair that little kids get to have recess
and middle schoolers don't have recess. Then, since they don't have
an opportunity to go outside to play and get some exercise, they have
a higher risk of getting unhealthy just because they don't have recess.
       I think kids in middle school should have recess because if they
don't have recess to get their energy out they might be fidgety and not
pay attention . The teachers might blame the kids, but actually it's not
their fault. It’s whoever said middle schoolers shouldn’t have recess’s
fault. You wouldn't want to be fidgety all day right? This is why I think
middle schoolers should have recess.

     In conclusion, I think middle schoolers should have recess. How
would you like to be trapped in a middle school all day with no fresh
air? Try to think about those poor middle schoolers who don't have
recess all year.
