1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair M. Tomasi called this meeting to order at 7:00 pm and led the pledge of allegiance.
A moment of silence was held for Michael Healey and family.
2. ADDITIONS/CHANGES TO THE AGENDA
No additions or changes were requested.

4. PRIORITY DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS
4.1 2020-2021 Superintendent’s Proposed Education Budget Presentation
Superintendent Burt presented the 2020-2021 proposed budget based on the Mission
Statement – “We Create Innovative Thinkers for a Dynamic World”. The proposed
budget is $42,430,088, an increase of $1,192,966 or a 2.89% increase over the 2019-
2020.
Superintendent Burt said the budget goals support the new Mission Statement and the
new District goals, sustain current instructional and operational programming, strengthen
instructional and operational programming and balance the needs of the district with
stewardship.
Superintendent Burt explained how the budget development was a collaborative effort
with building administrators. Each line item in each school budget was reviewed by the
principal and teacher leaders. There are many great programs from grants that should be
sustained, budget requests were reviewed that will strengthen operations and instruction.
Each building budget includes a capital improvement plan, a plan for large purchases over

time and a plan to stay ahead of potential problems.

The next Board of Education budget discussions will be held on February 25, 2020 and
March 3, 2020.
