MINUTES
MEMBERS PRESENT: Amy Domeika, Christopher McGlynn, Suesen Hickey
OTHERS PRESENT: Mary Tomasi, Superintendent Jeffrey Burt
1. CALL TO ORDER
C. McGlynn called the meeting to order at 6:35PM.
2. CITIZEN COMMENTS
2.A Lisa Johnson expressed being in favor of enforcing a policy to ban discriminatory
symbols on school campuses, specifically the confederate flag. She also had a question
on what kind of diversity training is done in schools.
2.B Michelle Gilman also expressed support for a policy that prohibits discriminatory
symbols in school.
2.C Shannon Bergquist was in agreement about the policy prohibiting discriminatory
symbols, and wanted to ensure that children feel welcome and safe in school. She
inquired as to how the schools help educate students to understand this important matter.

To approve the minutes of the October 28, 2019 Policy Committee meeting

Superintendent Burt brought forward the discussion of banning discriminatory
symbols on school property. The committee supported the Superintendent in
upholding the policy at any school event.

Series, addressing any policies that require immediate attention, and electing a Policy
Committee Chair.
