MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Mary Tomasi, Vice Chair Chris McGlynn, Joanne Rose,
Amy Domeika, Suesen Hickey, Jessica Morozowich at 6:22 pm.

MEMBERS ABSENT: Mitch Koziol.

ADMINISTRATION PRESENT: Superintendent Jeffrey Burt, Bacon Academy Principal Matt
Peel, Colchester Elementary School Principal Judy O’Meara, Jack Jackter Intermediate School
Principal Elise Butson, Director of Teaching and Learning Charles Hewes, Director of Pupil
Services and Special Education Kathleen Perry, Director of Education Operations Mario Hurtado,
Director of Human Resources Shannon Ramsby, Director of Technology Darren Smith, Chief
Financial Officer Maggie Cosgrove.


 1. MEETING OPENING
    1.1 Call to Order
        Chair Tomasi called this Special Meeting to order at 6:02 pm. with a roll call to establish a
        quorum. A quorum is present.

 2. PUBLIC COMMENT
    No comments were received.

 3. PRIORITY DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION ITEM
    3.1 District Reopening Plan
        Superintendent Burt reviewed the amended District Reopening Plan to bring the Kindergarten
        through Grade 5 students back to a full, in-person model beginning November 12, 2020.
        There is great concern for the education of the students and the care and supervision needs of
        families. Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday, half-day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

        Students in Grades 6-12 will continue with the hybrid model as small groups are not possible
        in those grades.

        Superintendent Burt has been in touch with other districts and with the Chatham Health District.
        There is no evidence at this time that student to student transmission of the virus has taken place
        in Colchester. Shields will be placed on each desk, masks will continue, recess will be held
        outside when possible.

        The District Reopening Plan is available on the school website at www.colchesterct.org under
        the Superintendent’s Update.

  J. Morozowich arrived during this discussion.

        Motion by: J. Morozowich
        to approve the amended District Reopening Plan as presented for Kindergarten through Grade 5.
        Second by: S. Hickey.
        Vote:        Unanimous to approve.

4. PUBLIC COMMENT
   Mike Caplet thanked the Board and Administration for the great work they have done and asked
   when more specific information would be available for at home learning. C. Hewes stated that
   more information will be available this week.


5. ADJOURNMENT
   Chair Tomasi adjourned this Special Meeting at 7:09 pm.
