Subject: Capital Expenditure Request

There is one pressing issue that I recommend be addressed as soon as possible with the
funding being requested to be allocated from the Building and Grounds Reserve Account.
The installation of the snow retention system for JJ’s metal roof was not completed. This
problem coupled with damaged or non existent gutters in several areas is significant.
The risk of personal injury and financial exposure due to property damaged can not be
overstated.

I proposed:

Purchase and Install 720 lineal feet of Garlands Snow Retention System.

The pricing for the snow retention system purchased against the Omni Contract is:
$37.20 linear ft. @ 720 lin ft. = $26,784 + $600 S&H= $27,384

The installation cost is: $19,152 + Lift rental $2,503= $21,655

Fabricate and install new gutters to match existing profile and color: $15,111

COST Purchase 720’ of snow retention system $27.384
Install 720’ of snow retention system $21,655
Replace 180’ of damaged gutters $15,111
         Total $64,150

I am requesting an expenditure of $64,150 to proceed with above referenced work. Once all the
work is completed I’ll report all expenditures to you and the BOE.

We have in our School District many very important projects that have already been for years in
the schedule to be completed. This project at JJ is particularly important because its completion
will prevent further damage to the building and mechanical equipment but more importantly it
will prevent the possibility of personal injury due to ice or snow falling directly on pathways and
exit door areas.

Your attention to the above is appreciated.
