ADMINISTRATION PRESENT: Superintendent Jeffrey Burt, Bacon Academy Principal Matt Peel,
William J. Johnston Middle School Principal Chris Bennett, Colchester Elementary School Principal
Judy O’Meara, Jack Jackter Intermediate School Principal Elise Butson, Director of Teaching and
Learning Charles Hewes, Director of Pupil Services and Special Education Kathleen Perry, Darren
Smith, Director of Educational Technology and Instructional Innovation, Chief Financial Officer
Maggie Cosgrove.

1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair Tomasi called this Regular Meeting to order at 7:03 pm and led the Pledge of
Allegiance.
2. ADDITIONS/CHANGES TO THE AGENDA
No additions or changes were requested.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT
Dan Dander would like information about the Instructional Reading Coach at Bacon
Academy.
John Fusco asked if the Board had considered reductions to the budget and asked about
the math interventionist position.
4. PRIORITY DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS
4.1 Discussion of Superintendent’s 2020-2021 Proposed Education Budget
Superintendent Burt answered questions regarding the Superintendent’s proposed
budget that were submitted by Board members and citizens. Handouts of these
questions and answers were available and addressed the public comments made
above.
Administrators submitted potential reductions or additions to the proposed budget.
The proposed 2020-2021 budget is online and the public is welcome to submit
questions that will be answered online at budget@colchesterct.org. No names will
appear with the questions. The next budget review meeting will be held March 3,
2020.
