Chair Tomasi called the meeting to order at 6:02PM.

3. *PRIORITY DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS
3.1 BOE Budget Workshop
Chair Tomasi directed attendees to the budget questions and answers on the website. All
documents related to the 2021-2022 budget process will be uploaded on the CPS website
under Education Budget.
Superintendent Burt shared his updated 2021-2022 budget in the amount of $42,379,434
(an increase of $1,062,824 or 2.57% over 2020-2021). Points of discussion included
estimated student enrollment, maintaining the current level of staffing necessary to meet
the instructional needs during pandemic and afterwards, use of the ESSER II grant
funding, and additional federal relief funding (American Rescue Plan Act) to provide
support for recovery. This funding would help provide additional staff that may be
needed to support the continuation of the Voluntary At-Home Learners program if
required by the State for the 2021-2022 school year.
Director of Educational Operations Mario Hurtado presented a 3-year plan for building
maintenance, with particular focus on Bacon Academy
