Colchester Public Schools Welcomes K9 Skipper!
K9 Skipper, an ADA Certified Service Dog, has been placed with Corporal Scheel, the School
Resource Officer for Colchester Public Schools. Skipper has been trained by Puppies Behind
Bars (PBB), a program which works with incarcerated individuals to train service dogs. Skipper
will be providing wellness support to local first responders as needed. In addition, Skipper will
also accompany Corporal Scheel to the Colchester Schools on a daily basis to provide support
to students and staff. K9 Skipper was officially sworn in at the Colchester Town Hall on January
27, 2022. Superintendent Jeffrey E. Burt presented Skipper with some treats and a card that
were sent as a welcome to Skipper by students at CTAC, the Community Transition Academy of
Colchester.
