                           FIRST READING 4/20/2022 - NEW

The Colchester Board of Education (the “Board”) shall interview and appoint an Administrative
Ombudsman to serve at the start of each school year. The appointee shall be a citizen who is
unaffiliated with administration or the Board. Said appointee shall serve the Board as well as the
Superintendent, and report to the Board as needed.

The role of the Ombudsman is to hear any staff complaints regarding administration and
appropriately manage said complaints as legally necessary.

The purpose of an Ombudsman is to allow staff an impartial safe space for discussion of issues
without fear of reprisal.

The Ombudsman shall also serve to conduct exit interviews of Administrators and Teachers as
they either resign or retire.
