Dear Dr. Thomas McDowell,
Please accept this letter as my notice of my resignation from my position as BASES Special
Education Teacher for Colchester Elementary School. My last date of employment will be
December 23, 2022.
Unfortunately I am no longer able to continue my work with Colchester Public Schools. I was
very excited for this opportunity and hopeful that the district would be highly supportive of
encouraging high standards and positive student outcomes, especially with our most at-risk
students. At this point in time I do not feel the district moving in a positive direction to support
staff and students. I have observed minimal development to support special education staff in this
time of transition for the district. I have decided to pursue my continued love for education in
another district.
Thank you for the opportunity to work for and collaborate with Judy O’Meara and Meghan
Amado. I greatly appreciate and admire their commitment to the students and staff in their
building. They have always been willing to support the BASES classroom and our most at-risk
students outside of their own duties and responsibilities.
I wish you and all the Colchester staff a successful 2023 school year.
