Good morning,
With a heavy heart, | am resigning from the special education para position at Colchester Elementary School. | have
worked in education as a tenured certified teacher, substitute teacher, and in a school support staff capacity for over a
decade. None of these roles prepared me for the difficulties and challenges of working in special education. If | could
make one recommendation to the board, your special ed staff should be showered with confetti, flowers, and chocolates
on their way out of the building each day. If 1 could make one other recommendation, you should train your new special
education paras before having them jump directly into the deep end on their first day.
My last day as a special education para will be Friday, November 3rd. Judy has assured me that my position is in good
hands, with a current substitute willing to step up to the high demands of this position. If my replacement falls through, |
would fike to continue in my post until another replacement can be found or until two weeks from now, on November 15th.
| would love to continue serving our community and school system through a means in which | have more expertise by
joining your elite substitute team. My experience spans all grades and subject areas, and thus, | would love to be entered
into the Frontline system for all grade levels pre-k-12. | look forward to continuing my work with the district in this new
direction. Please feel free to contact me for an exit interview. | would be very willing to provide further feedback to ensure
continued success.
