Dear Bacon Academy Students, Families, Faculty and Staff,
As you know, the Board of Education unanimously approved the Administration’s recommendation to
appoint Amy Begué as the new principal at Bacon Academy at their regular meeting on Tuesday,
September 27, 2022.
Amy’s appointment will be effective on Monday, October 3, 2022. Additionally, Kevin Burke, Athletic
Director, will serve as the Interim Dean of Students effective Monday, October 3, 2022.
Kevin has served in this capacity twice before. He will serve until a permanent assistant principal is hired
to fill the position vacated by Amy Begué’s appointment.
I also want to take the opportunity to thank Dr. Charles Hewes for his willingness to step in as acting
principal during this period of transition. Dr. Hewes will return to his responsibilities as Assistant
Superintendent of Schools, responsible for Teaching & Learning on Monday.
