Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we embrace the fall season. I want to take a moment to
address the various safety issues currently impacting schools. While some communities have
faced credible threats, unfortunately, many others have been victims of vague social media
threats or swatting incidents. You may have heard reports of such incidents in Monroe,
Naugatuck, Westport, New Britain, and Cromwell, among others. These incidents are occuring
closer to our community.
Swatting involves making false reports about serious threats or “active” incidents that
necessitate an immediate police response. These actions disrupt the school environment and
raise safety concerns for both students and staff. If we receive a report of this nature, we will
work closely with police to address it in accordance with our established safety plans and
protocols.
I want to reassure you that we take any threats to our community's safety very seriously. In my
September 4th letter to parents, staff, and students, I emphasized that our primary goal is to
ensure our schools remain safe, supportive, and conducive to learning and that commitment will
always hold true.
I encourage all families to report any concerns or suspicious activity to the appropriate
authorities. Your vigilance is essential to our collective safety. If you observe any behavior that
seems concerning, whether it involves threats, suspicious activity, or the presence of a weapon,
please report it immediately to an administrator or local authorities.
